Over the Mountain

We have a weakness for mountains, and our travels have taken us to a good many of them. Over the Mountain gathers a few: Castle Mountain in Canada, Mitre Peak in New Zealand and the high country of South America. Each print begins with something that grows there and ends as silk, made by hand in Florida.

DREAM ROBE

Larkspur

Larkspur grows in tall spires of small flowers, the kind you notice from across a field. We drew ours for the Dream Robe in silk charmeuse, with a sash that ties in front or behind. Wear it over the navy Dream Slip, and the evening more or less plans itself.

PAINTBRUSH DRESS

Indian paintbrush

Indian paintbrush is a vibrant wildflower that blooms on Castle Mountain in Canada, one of the mountains we have seen on our travels. It became the print on the Paintbrush Dress, an ankle length slip in silk charmeuse, cut on the bias. Bold enough to be the whole outfit, which is rather the point.

FALLING STARS DRESS

Crocosmia

At Mitre Peak in New Zealand, crocosmia sends up wands of scarlet, orange and yellow flowers above sword shaped leaves. We have seen the peak, and the flower came home as the print on the Falling Stars Dress, an ankle length slip in silk charmeuse with shirring straps. It is a dress for an entrance, and it knows it.

GOLDEN FLOWER SET

The golden trumpet tree

Tabebuia chrysantha, the golden trumpet tree, grows in the mountains of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Brazil. In full bloom it lets its blossoms fall, and for a short while the ground turns gold. The Golden Flower Set keeps the moment: a silk charmeuse blouse, and flared pants whose front slit shows a printed underlayer, our nod to the fallen petals.
